At the edge of a great desert, the Temple of Golden Stillness stood like a beacon of calm. There lived Jin, a young monk who trained in the Tiger Style. Fierce in form, yet soft in heart, Jin had taken a vow never to strike in anger.
When a scroll bearing the Heart Sutra was stolen by the warlord Hu Xiong, the temple elders turned to Jin. “You have the strength and the patience,” they said. “Bring back what was taken—not through force, but through presence.”
Jin journeyed for weeks through parched lands. When he reached Hu Xiong’s fortress, he did not sneak in. He knocked.
The guards laughed. “You come unarmed?”
“I have all I need,” Jin replied.
He faced a gauntlet of warriors, using Tiger Style to counter and disarm without harming. His control was absolute. When he finally reached Hu Xiong, the warlord asked, “Why not kill me?”
“Because fear teaches nothing,” Jin said, “but respect plants seeds.”
Hu Xiong, ashamed, returned the scroll and bowed for the first time in his life.
